Christians

All of you...listen. I respect your right to believe what you want but please stop trying to convert me and others on this blog. This is an atheist blog. If you have something to add..do so but please STOP evangelizing here. This is not the place to proselytize. You'll get nowhere.

I honestly do not expect you to convert, But why is it even as a God hating Atheist you can as I said to Beast, talk about us and talk about a God you claim is not real, but we are not allowed to say something back, like provide evidence or anything. You can say, I do not hate a God or person I do not believe in, but how can you say that, then turn around and talk about a person you feel does not exist and then when people provide evidence you ask us not to. Seems we have a problem, you want to remain in darkness and believe lies. Rick b

Rick:

You can provide evidence, if you do have any.

Allegories and third person testimonies don't count.

In my case, I don't think it is a "hate god" situation. I don't know a god. Period. Maybe some people do know a god, such as Mithras, Thor, Odin, Wodan, Yahweh and others.

Let's say, the majority of the people believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Others and I would like to change the "In god we trust" to, "In the FSM we trust."
What is wrong with that? We need to use the book of the FSM as a text book in public schools, so the children can make up their own minds to believe in the FSM or evolution. We need to make laws concerning the respect of the FSM. Forget that some people don't believe in Him. Doesn't matter. We do. It's blasphemy to say He doesn't exist. You need proof? Why? There's plenty of proof, Duh! Spaghetti! That's all the proof you need. Doesn't matter that people made spaghetti, they were told to, by Him.
I don't consider any other god to be the true god, just the FSM. Anyone who believes otherwise is not getting into FSM heaven.

What's wrong with this picture? Not everyone believes in a god. Separation of church and state. It's there for the protection of religions also, not just non-believers.

Rick I don't hate god. How can I hate something that does not exist. What I do hate and deplore is religion and what it does to people.

Perhaps he's not writing for you. Did you ever think of that? I know that my blog is SPECIFICALLY for Atheist and Freethinkers, not Xtians.

I don't go trolling around religious blogs, one, because I get annoyed really fast when I do, two because I respect your right to believe in what you want to, and in know way would I presume it was OK to come over to your blog and tell you that you are wrong!

Well the Bible says you do hate God, and If your wrong as I believe you are, then your in for a world of hurt after you die and then know God was/is real. Rick b

Rick, take your liberty and your threats elsewhere.

O_O...the bible says that Interested hates God? That's awfully specific. Am I in the Bible? If so, am I wearing a hat in my passages? Ooo! Can I be in Song of Songs? That's the best book (besides Ecclesiastes and Job).

rick b "....and If your wrong as I believe you are, then your in for a world of hurt after you die and then know God was/is real. Rick b"
Ah, the threat comes out. Love God or else. Love God without evidence; you'll get the evidence at the end. Don't love God without evidence; boil in firey burning for all eternity. Life a reality-based life; firey burning. Moo ha-ha! (I suspect, Rick b, that your definition of "evidence" is considerably different than ours).

Unknown said...

I suspect as much of you do that this "evidence" goes by the guise of faith. I have a problem with faith. It can cause a great many people to say and do things not in their own best interest and specifically not in the best interest of society as A WHOLE; including those without [faith].

Rick B, it's not your god I hate (Interested explained this quite succinctly). I don't hate what you have to say (I'll get pissed off sure). What gives me problems is the fact that somebody can come out and say to me that I'm going to burn in hell when I know for fucks sake they themselves can't possibly know this. You have to be dead to know.

So one can't know without plainly claiming it to be so. THAT'S FAITH.

There's no evidence for the afterlife unless your dead. How are you going to present your findings to living then? It's never been done, not in my personal experience. And I daresay not in anyones experience.

That includes religious people also, I assume?

Interested,
I work with drunks and am regularly told by newcomers that there is no possible way that I am now or can remain truly sober as long as I refuse to grovel before whichever god the individual favors. After nine years, I am amused more than annoyed by this. The whole god thing remains a mystery to me. I credit early instruction in reading and access to books that were way beyond my comprehension, forcing me to think.

Hey Larro,
Ever read anything by Josh McDowell? I’d recommend “A Ready Defense.” It’s a good summary of all his work. He started out a critic of Christianity, was challenged to examine it intellectually, spent a lot of time trying to prove the Bible was literature at best and ended up writing a whole book about the immense evidence that supports the reliability of its preservation and translation.

Hey Christ Davis,
You can be sober and never believe in a god or the God of creation. My mom is an Atheist and she was a drunk most of my childhood, her parents both died from drinking all their lives, they died in their 40's.

Yet my mom is and has been sober and dry for over 20 years now. So who ever is telling you that is clueless. Rick b

Rick you make the point...your mom is sober yet a non beliver. Good for her, now you need to wake up.

rick b: I'd hardly use Josh McDowell as a good reference. He thinks that Josephus thought Jesus was god. I'd hardly call his reference to Jesus as belief that he was god. First, the account is secondhand (or third or worse). Second, it it's a forgery. A pious one, to be sure, but that doesn't make it true. Third Josephus never mentions it again. Fourth, he never converts. Individually, these things could each be rationalized away, but taken together...
