Meanderings

Recently I have a lot of people praying for me. I guess I need it because my life has taken a turn for the worse…maybe. I made some choices that were, perhaps, hasty. Some of those choices have not produced the expected result. But why is it “god’s will” for me to make bad choices? These same people keep telling me that god loves me. He wants to take care of me because he is benevolent. He knows about my problems, because he is omniscient. He could fix it with the snap of a finger because he is omnipotent.

Ahh…they say but “free will” is in the mix. So: he knows me and allows me to screw up, he is able to prevent my pain and doesn’t and he loves me….

Please don’t love me.

I remember my instructors used to motivate us, and maybe it works for you:

"Pain is temporary, but glory lasts forever".

"Pain is temporary, but glory lasts forever".

Beast that is an interesting quote! I just finished a book about polygamy. One of the women who escaped the Short Creek cult stated that her "prophet" used this same quote when she complained about the dificulty of plural marriage.

Well, I guess it matters who this quote is coming from.

I got this from my instructors in diving school - the most devilish, sadistic instructors you can ever find.

Anyway.....there are no real problems in life. Just situations and solutions.

Interested, Since you seem to blame God and you claim Believers said things to you that you dont exactly agree with, let me add my thoughts to the mix.

You said, I made some choices that were, perhaps, hasty. Some of those choices have not produced the expected result. But why is it “god’s will” for me to make bad choices?

Ask your friends to give Chapter and verse pointing out where it says, It is Gods will for you to make bad Choices. You have a brain, I believe God gave it to you to use, but for people who dont believe in God, then I would say, you still have a brain use it. You made your choices, not God. Here is a verse about you making bad Choices.

Gal 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Gal 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

Now since you and others will or might say, we do not believe the Bible so who cares what it says, lets put these verses in a context of non-believers.

You made your bed now lie in it, what comes around goes around, it's karma, you fill in your choice of saying. The world of non-believers has many sayings like this.

Now going on, you said These same people keep telling me that god loves me. He wants to take care of me because he is benevolent.

They are correct in the idea that God loves you. The Bible tells us, God loved the world so much He sent His Son to die for us, But why should He doing anything else for you? You deny Him, you Mock Him, You teach others He is not Real. Might seem mean, but it is true, you will not find any verses that teach God will bless and help out the Non believers and people He views as an Enemy.

Then if you read the Bible, you will find verse that both teach and show, even His Children you follow Him face hard times, get killed by others, or suffers pain and Misery.

Not one verse will you find that says, follow me and you will be rich, and have a life free from pain and suffering.

Who ever told you what they told you about God either does not know the Bible, or they do not understand. Like I said, I understand you dont believe the Bible, or in God, thats Fine it is your Choice. I am simply telling you this because your Blaming God and your saying people who believe in God told you things that simply are not so.

Then you say He knows about my problems, because he is omniscient. He could fix it with the snap of a finger because he is omnipotent.

As I pointed out already, He will not fix your problems even if you do know Him or come to know him, I sugest if you have not already, then read the Book of Job, he was a lover of God, and look what God allowed Satan to do. If God allows that of one of His own, why not others like Me for example.

My Wife has MS, She never crys and complains, O God your cruel and un just. Read the Account of Paul in the Bible, he had a thorn in the Flesh, were not sure exactly what it was, but we believe from what he says, it was a problem whit his eye sight, he prayed 3 times for God to correct it and God told him no, yet he still served God. Rick you missed my point. I do not blame god..how could I blame someone who doesn't exist. My point is that others DO believe. What they are saying is that it is gods will on the one hand and on the other that I am loved by this creature who could but does not help. It is impossible to believe in such crap.-

That said, I do not blame anyone for my decisions. Never have. What I resent is people trying to console me by saying that this invisible guy in the sky loves me and it must be his will for me to suffer.

I made my bed and I fully intend to lie in it. I don't need sympathy from anyone. THAT IS MY POINT! Don't pray to your fantasy creature about me.

I think not everyone enjoys a heavy dose of proselytizing when they are in their doldrums......probably you ought to grab your bibles and shove it up the place where the sun doesn't shine......if you know what I mean.
