Under God

The Texas Legislature recently passed a new law that changes the pledge to the Texas Flag.

Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one and indivisible.

Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible.

The law suits have already begun. How much money will be spent on this? How can we have separation of church and state when god is forced everyone?

Now before anyone makes the statement that this nation was born on Christian principals or that our founding fathers were Christian please check out this site;

The primary leaders of the so-called founding fathers of our nation were not Bible-believing Christians; they were deists.

Yeah, that's great, but...

Have you asked Him yet?

It seems like we, as a society get all caught up in words. Whether it is black, African American, or god. I have come to the conclusion that words don't really matter that much to me or how I feel. If a black person wants to be called African-American what does it really matter to me? If someone wants to put the word god in a pledge that what does it really matter to me? (and btw who ever heard of pledging to your state flag?....you Texans really what to be your own country don't you?) In this case what would matter is that you are pledging to the flag which represents and stand for the bigger picture, your home....your state. That is what the allegiance is for, not anyone's god.

Thank you for that comment anonymous. I agree that it shouldn't matter...but it does. There are children who do not understand who this god is. When teachers require that the kids stand a pledge to the flag and then confess a god...well to me it is child abuse. On the one hand adults are suppose to teach kids to think for themselves then those same adults force their own beliefs on them.

I also appreciat the statement that the pledge to the flag should have nothing to do with a god of any kind. This is not separation of church and state.

guitanguran in answer to your repeated question...no I haven't asked "him" lately. I did comment to some of your posts on your blog. Long ago I prayed and begged for answers that never came. I read the bible, I prayed and still I was unfulfilled, and unconvinced.

I'll not try to convert you and I ask that you keep you testimony to yourself. I want this to be a forum for discussion not proselytizing.

Ms. Interested:

"...I ask that you keep you testimony to yourself."

Kind of puts me into a conversational straight jacket, wouldn't you agree?

Testimony in its most basic sense is giving forth the facts of a matter as best you know them.

As I come to these discussions from a Christian point of view, and that the majority of your postings have to do with disputing the existence of God, I don't see how I can contend with your contentions and leave Jesus in the trunk, do you?

Its your blog and your call.

Your defense of God who cannot or does not exist is a form of proselytizing.

Then you get mad at teachers for wanting to teach God or creation, but yet many Athiests want to teach eveloution or deny God is real, yet by forcing one side and not allowing the other side to speak, as your doing is also not allowing kids to think for them selves and then can be a form of Child abuse. But yet I know you will dis agree simply because you would not want to be wrong or allow children to think for them selves by looking creation and reading the Bible.

You want God and the Bible removed from School, yet it's ok to do that, but God forbid you should allow Kids to read and think for themselves, instead you think for them and tell them God is not real.

Then you say Hell cannot be real, God would be mean to create it, sadly if hell is real and your telling kids God does not exist and turn kids away from God, then you find out he is real, boy I would hate to be you on that day, God is very clear about people turning kids away, look up the millstone verse.

Then you say, I prayed and cried and asked God, and I got no reply, maybe you did get a reply, you did not like it. So you ignored it and said God never replied. Rick b

Really? I guess I don't see it that way.
Then you get mad at teachers for wanting to teach God or creation, evolution is a factm borne out by science and empirical evidence.

will dis agree simply because you would not want to be wrong or allow children to think for them selves by looking creation and reading the Bible. Rick I resent the implication. There is a vast difference between teaching science and superstition.

You want God and the Bible removed from School, yet it's ok to do that, but God forbid you should allow Kids to read and think for themselves, instead you think for them and tell them God is not real. I have NEVER told a child that god is not real. That is not my job. But remember, this country is built on the separation of church and state. Schools, public schools, are state institutions. We have no business involving ourselves in religious education. Think about this; what is I were muslim and I decided to teach stutents about allah. Would you be happy? NO, bcause it is not your belief. The framers of our constitution were wise to make it so. Otherwise your belief system would be subject to infiltration by all religions.

I have a lot more on this subject but it will be in a new post.

Sorry, but their is zero evidence to prove this lie, the only so called evidence is faith. Rick b

Maybe a little Proverbs 15:1 would be in order?

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."
